Speak Out Against Domestic Violence with Avon

March 2013

The company for women celebrates International Women's Day with the launch of the No to Violence whistle necklace and lotion to help fund the cause.

In line with the celebration of International Women’s Day, Avon, the company for women continues to promote its Speak Out Against Domestic Violence (SOADV) campaign, which serves as a strong and constant reminder of the pressing and urgent issue of domestic abuse in the country.

Since its launch in 2009, SOADV has raised awareness among Filipinos on the realities of domestic violence, breaking the myth that this only pertains to physical abuse, but in actuality, also extends to verbal, emotional, and financial abuse. Moreover, it has shed light on the fact that this is not just an issue that concerns married couples or partners, but can happen to just about anyone, even young people.

Now on its fifth year, the campaign continues to rally the support of each Filipino, believing that each one has a unique responsibility and contribution that will further the cause.

With 1 in every 3 women becoming victims of domestic abuse, the campaign once again takes a stand for those suffering in silence with this year’s initiatives, particularly by gaining support and funds for its ongoing program for victims through the sale of the No to Violence Necklace.

The No to Violence Necklace is Avon’s call for you to Speak Out against domestic abuse, rallying individuals to ‘blow the whistle’ to protect oneself or others, and help stop violence against women. A simple yet effective tool, the act of carrying a whistle already serves as a constant reminder to look out for your safety and that of your loved ones, especially in the face of danger and abuse.

Aside from the No to Violence Necklace which retails for only Php 399, Avon is also offering the 400-mL Avon Lotion Moisture Blend for only Php 330. Both the necklace and the lotion can be purchased through Avon Representatives nationwide, with part of the proceeds going to the campaign’s non-government organization (NGO) partners to sustain the hotline numbers which domestic abuse victims or concerned citizens can contact for help.

Abuse only stops when the public gathers the courage to Speak Out—and with Avon, everyone is empowered to make their voices count and be part of the change that can help save lives and families.
