Legal Resource for Women and Children, Inc.(LUNA) was born in Davao City to help address the issue of violence against women and children. The creation of a legal center to handle Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) cases following the passage of R.A. 9262 or the Anti-VAWC Act of 2004 was bourne out of recognizing the increase of violence against women engaged in prostitution and children in conflict with law in the city. In the early part of 2004, an investigation was conducted about the issue and to find local counterparts who would be willing to form a core group for the establishment of a new entity.
Fast forward to the present, LUNA had made headway in pursuing its objectives for its three core programs, namely Comprehensive Legal Assistance Program (CLAP), Integrated Legal Advocacy Work (ILAW), and Continuing Legal Volunteerism, Education and Training (CLVET).

Women's Crisis Center
The Women's Crisis Center is a non-stock, non-profit private institution with a firm commitment to end violence against women and to work towards a just and humane society. It is the first ever crisis center in the Philippines for women survivors of battering, rape, incest, sexual harassment, prostitution, and sex trafficking.
The Women's Crisis Center is rooted in the resurgence of the women's movement in the Philippines in the 80's. Active organizing of women encouraged the discussion of women's experiences of all forms of violence which otherwise would have remained private and unrecognized.
From there, a group of women deeply concerned with the violence that pervades women's lives committed themselves to respond to the issue. On February 19, 1989 , The Women's Crisis Center was formally established. It is the first and only crisis center in the Philippines which offers a comprehensive range of crisis intervention services for survivors of gender-based violence.
